7 area counties sign on for transportation fund referendum

We told you recently about a coaltion of business groups, transportation organizations and others advocating a statewide effort for a constitutional amendment to prevent future transfers from the state’s transportation fund to plug general fund budget shortfalls.

So far, seven West Central Wisconsin Counties are participating by placing advisory referendums on county ballots this fall asking the public to weigh in on the issue. The idea is to encourage the next session of the legislature to begin the process of creating a constitutional amendment.

Area counties which have, so far, agreed to put the issue on their ballots are: Barron, Chippewa, Eau Claire, Jackson, Pepin, Polk and St. Croix.
